The payment giant Visa plans to double its efforts on “formulating and supporting the role of cryptocurrency in the future of money” and soon it will announce new projects in this direction.
According to an article in the blog of Visa, there are three key goals on the basis of the company’s strategy on cryptocurrencies. The company will concentrate its efforts in reliable standards for data security, it will remain free from any network or cryptocurrency favoritism, and will only partner up with cryptocurrency projects, whose principles match the company’s goals.
Visa, which is already a staple in the relationship between the cryptocurrency industry and traditional finances for many merchants, believes, that her partnerships in the cryptocurrency field have a decisive role in preserving the legacy of “the six decades of innovation”.
“Leveraging this legacy over the next decades requires continuous innovation and collaboration with the public and private sector,” says Visa.
According to the blog post, Visa is working directly with policymakers and non-governmental organizations to “help create a dialogue” on digital currencies, including developing the concept of a government cryptocurrency. More announcements regarding cryptocurrency projects will appear in the coming months.
As a reminder, in May, Visa filed a patent application for a “digital fiat currency” that will have the advantages of cryptocurrencies but be issued by a “centralized authority”. In addition, back last summer, Visa launched a blockchain-based payment service for corporate clients, first announced in October 2016.
