
In the forthcoming FTX Crypto Cup online chess tournament, the world’s top ten players will battle each other for $100,000 worth of Bitcoin provided by the event sponsor and the FTX cryptocurrency derivatives exchange. Another prize is $220,000 in cash.
Among grandmasters who should take part in the cup, which is described as the world’s first chess tournament with Bitcoin -rewards the best players in the world, Magnus Carlsen. The event will precede their 14-game world title match scheduled for November-December in Dubai.
The event, part of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, will run from May 2Зrd to З1st and allow sports fans to track prize amounts in real-time.
If Carlsen receives a cryptocurrency bonus, the player will diversify their investment portfolio even more. In a tweet dated April 29, the grandmaster admitted that he had ventured into online trading six months earlier.
The event, which will be televised and on online platforms Twitch and YouTube, will guarantee its winner a spot in the San Francisco Tour Finals this September.
