From now on every Iranian crypto miner is obliged to uncover his identity, the size of his crypto farm, the use of electricity, and the number of miners he possesses.

Iran is one of the countries that try to increase revenue, facing strict economic sanctions by the US, by legalizing mining of cryptocurrencies. The Iranian government aims to regulate this industry by establishing control over the work of these companies.

The creation of new rules regarding crypto mining was initiated after a statement by the country’s president Hasan Rouhani for the need of formulating new policy in this sphere.

In a request by the Council of Ministers to the Ministry of industry, extractive industry and trade a list of all people, who have a permit and registration to mine cryptocurrencies, is required. The owners of mining equipment are obliged to bring all their devices in specified locations or apply for a mining license in one month after the list is published.

In early June an Iranian MP suggested in parliament that the central bank of the country should take the responsibility for cryptocurrencies in the country and regulate the policy regarding digital assets.
