ETH Bids Will Be Undertaken by Sotheby Concerning Banksy Auction

Sotheby auction house has announced grabbing the first position as a crypto adherent for their real-time auction. Though the competitor houses are pacing over the race, Sotheby has managed to accept cryptocurrency for the very first auction of material art.

The Cryptocurrency in Talks

Sotheby is one of the most renowned auction houses and in their announcement, they highlighted that the token they will accept is going to be ETH i.e. Ethereum. These ETH payments are allowed for real-time auctions scheduled on 18th November. Works of a highly renowned street artist, Banksy are going to be sold during the auction.

As per the claims made by the prestigious auction house, it’s going to be the first move taken by any auction house to accept crypto as payment for material artwork. This auction is known as “The Now Evening Auction”. It is going to feature some classic works of Banksy named “Love is in the air” and “Trolly Hunters”.

The Tokens, Numbers & Where it all Began!!!

As far as numbers are concerned, the bidding prices are scheduled to be announced on the date in ETH only. The bidders, who will grab their share of art will have the option to pay in crypto tokens including USD coin, Ether, and Bitcoin.

The journey of Sotheby concerning crypto began with the house allowing ETH and BTC in May 2021. This auction was also scheduled for the artwork of Banksy. The house has backed the NFT projects financially and has further offered seed funding to support NFT studio along with Mojito, a blockchain firm. Further initiatives of Sotheby auction house can be observed with their launch of the Metaverse-themed NFT platform. It was launched in collaboration with PleasrDAO, Pranksy, and Paris Hilton among others.

Besides, the popular auction house is not the sole competitor in accepting crypto payments, The Christie’s also grabbed its share by accepting ETH payments in the last May auction of CryptoPunks. Although, Sotheby is going to do it for the first time in real-time conditions.
