Former President of the USA Donald Trump restated his negative attitude towards Bitcoin in a discussion with Fox Business earlier this week.
“Bitcoin, it just looks a lot like a scam. I was stunned because with our administration it was worth $ 6,000 and even less. I do not like it, because it is just another currency that directly competes with the dollar. I would like the dollar to be the world’s most important currency. I have always spoken about this,” he stated.
Trump also emphasized that the US does not ought to collect all the Bitcoins around the world, but that the importance of the dollar should be furthered.
“I think there should be set very, very strict regulatory guidelines for this crypto, but the leading currency should always be the dollar,” he commented.
In 2019, Trump, as acting president of the United States, revealed on Twitter that he does not consider himself a proponent of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, “which do not represent money, whose value is extremely volatile and occurs from nothing.” Back then he made his comment in the context of the declaration of the stablecoin Libra from Facebook, which, in his words, also “will not have great stability or steadfastness.”
In the recent conversation, Donald Trump also stated that he does not currently invest in the stock market because he considers prices too high in the current financial climate.
