Bitmain Founders Conflict Causes AntMiner Supply Disruption

Bitmain has announced a three-month delay in deliveries of the latest AntMiner series. The reason for this was the struggle between the co-founders of the company – Jihan Wu and Mikri Zhang.

Information about the delay in deliveries appeared on Bitmain’s official WeChat account. The report says that the reason for the delay was “external influence on the management of the company.” At the same time, Jihan Wu and his supporters have control over the account.

Thus, customers who ordered mining equipment in June and July will receive it no earlier than September and October. However, Bitmain offers two options for compensating customers – coupons for reimbursing lost profits from mining, which can be used in future hardware orders. Our customers can get their funds back. But for this you need to send a written application to the company and wait 60 days.

The power struggle appears to be seriously hurting Bitmain’s business, as customers turn to rival firms such as MicroBT and Canaan.

However, the recent reveal of the new miners of MicroBT and Canaan left miners unenthusiastic about their device that remain inferior in technical characteristic to AntMiner`s latest model according to many experts. Although the mentioned two companies complement Bitmain in the “Big Three” of mining equipment manufacturers they seem to lag behind their main competitor.

It is yet unclear how this delay will influence the market share of Bitmain and the development of the industry as a whole.

Mikri Zhang has previously accused Jihan Wu of smuggling 10,000 AntMiner miners from a farm located in Inner Mongolia.
