The speculator reports say that the Bank of Russia, the country’s central bank, will accept cross-border payments for cryptocurrencies. The reports say that the bank has accepted the need of the hour to allow transactions in crypto forms because it is inevitable. The reason is given to the geopolitical climate of the present moment.

As per the TASS, a local news platform says the Bank of Russia is pondering new ways of regulating the crypto industry. That’s why they have decided to legitimize international payments along with their finance ministry.

The reports also mentioned that the deputy finance minister of Russia, Alexei Moiseev, has announced the legalization of crypto payments soon. However, he also emphasized the requirement of accepting crypto transfers due to the changing scenario. Moreover, he highlighted that Russian citizens use international platforms to form their cryptocurrency wallets. Therefore, this practice should be done within the country as per the official. This will help the government supervise these platforms better while aligning their activities with anti-money laundering and knowing your customer guidelines.

Most of the legislation has been against legalizing cryptocurrency transfers. In 2020, Russia also came up with On Digital Finance Assets to regulate crypto movements. Russia only has the Ruble as its national legalized currency, so the central bank was not pleased with the cryptocurrency payments.

The cryptocurrency payments came to light in Russia around the end of 2021. After that, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, said that cryptocurrency as the payment form for energy resources such as oil is still in its juvenile phase. However, the condition has changed significantly since the war between Russia and Ukraine. It is because of the implementation of several restrictions from the West. That’s why the Russian government is intended to change its ways.
