The merger of Ether aims to make it a more streamlined and sustainable cryptocurrency. The merger can happen in the upcoming weeks. Investors have been long waiting for it. This will convert the Ethereum from being an energy-consuming proof-of-work to proof-of-stake. The founder of Masa Finance, Brendan Playford, opines that the deadline for launching the merger is extended again and again.
And even right now, investors are having doubts about whether the transmission will happen or not. The reasons behind this delay are first, the complex nature of the transition and, second, the uncertainty about the capability of the Ethereum structure to work along with it.
On 11th April, the value of Ethereum experienced a dip of 8%. Its value got down to $2,947 from $3215. This happened when the lead developer of Ethereum announced on Twitter that the June merger was further delayed because of the testing process. Currently, the value of Ethereum is $2,844, which is an outcome of a decrease of 13%.

Bitcoin and Ethereum both follow the same proof-of-work (POW) structure. This includes several miners and mathematicians working on complicated mathematical equations. This requires a lot of energy to execute the problem-solving process. Such tremendous energy consumption causes massive carbon production, which is terrible for the environment.
