US Hospital Receives $800,000 Bitcoin Donation Amid Pandemic

As the COVID-19 pandemic caused a severe economic crisis that drastically reduced the flow of donations to non-governmental charities, Cape Cod Massachusetts Hospital shifted to cryptocurrency donations and in that way highlighted their potential benefits to society.

It was reported that on February 19, 2021, Guide Cape Cod Hospital, which holds 102 years of rich history and is one of the largest in the state, received an e-mail, which pointed the Bitcoin donation to a compatible crypto depository account.

When logging it, the hospital team discovered an $800,000 Bitcoin transfer, with the BTC first half of the batch received in January this year, when the flagship cryptocurrency price ranged from $З0,000 to $40,000.

Cape Cod Hospital Senior Vice Chairman and Director of Development Christopher Lawson noted that the choice to receive cryptocurrency was made in early January, when one of the established backers of the health institution asked about the possibility of a potential donation in Bitcoins.

The hospital’s team then researched how to receive digital currencies without breaching existing laws. Subsequently, in less than a month and a half, the decision has already brought huge benefits.

We remind you that recently a crypto fund was established to aid the fight against cancer.
