High-ranking government officials from five countries have joined together to create a new global organization. It will pursue the goal to consolidate the cooperation between members, especially in the fields of innovation and the digital economy.
The initiative, which received the name “Organization of digital cooperation” (ODC), includes Saudi Arabia, Bahrein, Jordan, Kuwait, and Pakistan.
The ODC is expanding the cooperation between the member countries in the way they adapt to the global economy, ever more defined by technological innovations.
The Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology spoke about the importance of the initiative and the need to combine efforts to strengthen the digital economy:
“Together we have taken upon ourselves the obligation to achieve the concept of digital work to make sure that we give our young people the opportunity, and our women and their employers the ambitions to increase our combined digital economy up to $1 trillion within three to five years. ”
He also added that “the future prosperity will depend on the digital economy, but its potential will be realized only if governments work together with the companies and entrepreneurs, so that they could survive and flourish, expanding their presence in the current markets. “
