The football club has partnered with blockchain startup Sorare to create Ethereum-based collectible cards. They can be traded or fought for in blockchain-based gaming tournaments.
Blockchain startup Sorare will issue tokens to famous footballers such as Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and David Beckham. For this, the company signed an agreement with the Paris Saint-Germain football club. It became the 100th club to join the project, Decrypt reports.
The tokens, which resemble playing cards, will be released on the Ethereum blockchain. They can be traded, collected for collection, and used in virtual tournaments, in which a reward in cryptocurrency is paid for winning.
In February, the Juventus football club joined the Sorare project. Its players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, were also tokenized on the Ethereum blockchain in the form of cards. At that time, rare tokens were selling for $ 2,000.
