According to local news, the authorities of Beijing will soon uncover its first blockchain-based project in the governmental services of China.

Allegedly, there are 140 applications of the governmental services already working with blockchain. These applications can be separated into three categories: “distribution and exchange of data”, “compatible data processing” and “electronic certificates and their storage”.

Blockchain represents a breakthrough in the exchange of data. It is hard to replicate it using traditional means. The storage of electronic certificates, that allow data to be stored in the blockchain, increases the reliability and efficiency of data verification.

An example of blockchain systems in China are the ones used for registration of real estate across 11 state-owned sectors, including the commission for municipal planning, the commission for residential development and the development of rural areas, the tax bureau, the bureau for public safety and others.

All these governmental departments that occupy themselves with the registration of real estate and the storage of related data will store this information in blockchains. This will ensure trust in the access to the electronic license and also ensure the smoothness of shared data use.

Furthermore, it has been reported that China is looking into the possibility to use blockchain-based technologies in order to facilitate the exchange of data between medical institutions in case of a future pandemic.

One of the main problems that Chinese authorities face in the introduction of blockchain-based applications is the fact that some of the concerned parties don`t want to provide their data to others.
