Over 13,290 Bitcoin Addresses Are Worth More Than $1 Million

Currently, there are over 13,290 Bitcoin accounts worth $1 million or more, data shared by Glassnode suggests.

It takes around 107 Bitcoins to become a dollar millionaire at the current price of the cryptocurrency. This metric is intrinsically tied to the trading price of Bitcoin, so it tends to fluctuate over time. Although the value of Bitcoin can be quite volatile sometimes, the number of people who own at least 100 Bitcoins tends to be much less volatile in comparison.

The data shows that the number of accounts with a balance over $1 million hit its highest point in the 2017 bull run, while the metric of holders mentioned above remained largely unchanged. This is one of the few metrics on the Bitcoin network with little variance over the years.

Possible reason for this is that these addresses are owned by large or collective entities like exchanges and custodians, who don’t engage in rush transactions and follow a predetermined distribution of their crypto assets. It also worth to highlight the fact that there are over 1 million Bitcoin which were likely mined by the creator of the cryptocurrency, Satoshi Nakamoto. These assets have not been moved in over 10 years.

However, having this data doesn’t really answer the question of how many Bitcoin millionaires there are. The reality of the matter is that we just don’t know. To answer this question, we should have reliable information on how many people of entities own these 13,290 addresses. Theoretically speaking, this could be anywhere between 1 to 13,290. We just don’t possess the data set to make any suggestions further than that.
