
The Association of Russian Banks conducted a survey and found out how the banking community relates to the idea of creating a new currency for the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
The potential digital ruble will have advantages over existing forms of payments, 23.5% of the survey participants of the Association of Russian Banks are sure. 47% of the respondents do not believe in the benefits of the new currency, the remaining 29.5% chose the items “other” or “difficult to answer”.
53% of those surveyed stated the need to introduce the digital currency of the Central Bank soon. 35% of the surveyed participants called the launch of the system inexpedient, 12% found it difficult to answer.
Earlier, the Deputy Governor of the central bank Olga Skorobogatova noted that most financial market participants supported the advisability of introducing the digital ruble during the public discussions.
In mid-October, the Central Bank issued a report for public discussions, in which it announced that it would study the feasibility of creating a digital ruble. This should become the third form of money and will be used as a supplement to cash and non-cash rubles. The decision to issue the asset has not yet been conclusively made.
