Professor of economics and cryptocurrency expert Nouriel Roubini once more predicted the death of Bitcoin. However, this time it will be by the hands of the new White House administration he says.
“Joe Biden will go a longer way than Donald Trump and will counter the criminal tax evasion with shitcoins conducting a real crypto-wash,” Roubini stated on Twitter.
The crypto critic’s tweet is an answer to lawyer Jake Chervinsky, who criticized a recent statement of the US President’s Financial Markets Working Group (also called FWG). It evaluates the key regulatory aspects of the utilization of USD-backed stablecoins.
“FWG members assess that stablecoins used as payment methods can increase efficiency and competition, while lowering costs and promoting broader financial inclusion,” the working group noted in a written statement.
But Chervinsky drew attention to another key part of the released document, in which the FWG proposes to identify all participants in digital transfers.
“In my opinion, there is surely no chance that this will be a mandatory rule in the foreseeable future. This reflects another personal point of view of Trump Secretary of State Mnuchin,” stated the lawyer.
In November, Roubini called the use of the term “cryptocurrency” in relation to Bitcoin a substitution of concepts.
