Jack Dorsey Has Launched His Own Node on the Bitcoin Network

Twitter CEO and founder Jack Dorsey has unveiled his own node connected to the Bitcoin network. He presented his followers a screenshot of the software Bitcoind used to create full nodes in the blockchain of the first cryptocurrency.

Dorsey quoted Hal Finney’s famous Twitter post from January 11, 2009, namely the first mention of Bitcoin on his platform. Back then, Bitcoin had not yet gotten the fame to write about it using a hashtag. Even more so, the appearance of the Bitcoin emoji on the platform became a fact more than 11 years later.

The screenshot reveals that Dorsey’s computer conducts the procedure of syncing with the Bitcoin blockchain. Complete nodes retain the entire transaction log, containing such done in the past as well. The blockchain is presently around 330 GB in size and the sync process can last for a few weeks. Dorsey was 2% synchronized by the time the photograph was taken.
