China’s number one telecommunications company Huawei and Beijing municipal authorities have signed a collaboration agreement to launch a blockchain-based smart city management system.
To launch the infrastructure, Huawei will provide Beijing authorities with access to its Huawei Cloud Blockchain platform. The blockchain-based system should improve the performance of municipal services and help develop the business environment in Beijing. In addition to blockchain, developers plan to use other new technology, including 5G, AI, and cloud computing.
In 2019, Huawei and the Beijing authorities launched a blockchain system that linked the 50 municipal departments of the city and enabled institutional collaboration and big data management. In the future, the development of this system will cover the management of real estate, provide effective feedback between citizens and the mayor’s office, and will also allow paying for parking, medical care, and utilities.
The Huawei Cloud Blockchain platform allows you to manage data, rights, and reviews in real-time, ensure the exchange and synchronization of data, as well as the transparency of data exchanges. Blockchain will play a key role in the modernization of urban infrastructure and the digitalization of municipal services. In addition, the Beijing authorities previously published a document describing a plan to turn the capital of China into a blockchain development center in just two years.
