The Political Action Committee of the House of Digital Commerce (PAC) seeks a path to the hearts of members of the US Congress. To raise awareness of cryptocurrencies, it is planned to donate $50 in Bitcoins to the campaigns of every single member of the US Congress.

According to the founder of the public organization Perianne Boring, within the Crypto for Congress initiative, the standing members of the Congress will receive contributions for their re-election campaigns in Bitcoin – this should allow each congressman to independently work with blockchain and cryptocurrencies. In addition to the financial incentive, an online educational program will be organized for members of Congress. Furthermore, tools will be presented to help them get to know Bitcoin better and learn how to interact with cryptocurrencies.

“One of the biggest problems we faced was that people just don’t understand what we are talking about,” explained Boring. She believes that, thanks to Crypto for Congress, members of the Senate and House of Representatives will gain a better understanding of cryptocurrencies, and this will positively affect their initiatives related to, for example, taxation and regulatory powers.

It is planned that a donation for Congressmen can be rejected, it can be given to charities or used for its intended purpose.

“Crypto for Congress provides an opportunity for the entire congressional community to become a part of the next generation of financial technology,” stated Rep. Tom Emmer, who actively supports the use of cryptocurrencies. All Bitcoins that will be distributed under the initiative were mined by American companies Core Scientific and Luxor. Boring emphasized that these are Bitcoins mined on American soil.
