The legendary Russian grandmaster Garry Kasparov, a former world chess champion, who played chess with the IBM Deep Blue supercomputer, thinks that the technology of the blockchain is neutral and can be used for both good and bad, similarly to nuclear energy.

In an interview on July 23 with the Forbes correspondent Roger Huang Kasparov said that he sees many advantages in cryptocurrencies. In his words, they give people more control over their money, which is usually controlled by “the state, corporations or third-party organizations”.

“The big advantage of Bitcoin lies in the fact that you know the exact magical number – it is 21 million, – the legendary chess player has noted, having in mind the limitation of the emission of Bitcoins. – But when you look at the other side, for example, the Federal Reserve of the USA, you never know how many millions or trillions of dollars will be printed tomorrow and how much harm will be done to your savings”.

Kasparov is а representative of a human rights fund, which uses technology and digital innovations to protect those whose freedoms in jeopardy. In his words, the technology of blockchain and cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, are “the natural choice” to protect against intrusion into private life and the limitation of freedoms.

“I believe that the stable rise of familiarity with Bitcoin, other cryptocurrencies and the technology of blockchain as a concept is inevitable, because this is a reaction of the transition of power from the private citizens to the governments and organizations, that can infringe on our confidentiality without our permission”, Kasparov stated.
