A recent survey has incorporated 3000 Russians to determine their inclination towards digital currencies. This survey has indicated that a substantial number of people are not in favour of getting state-controlled digital currency for their salaries. During the consistent progress of the Bank of Russia’s attempt to pursue the development of central bank digital currency, the survey revealed that a certain percentage of Russians are ready to get payments in a digital currency called Ruble.

The Responses of Participants

Around half of the Russian respondents made strong objections regarding the use of digital currency ruble for salary payments. The survey was published by one of the popular recruitment sites called HeadHunter. The survey stated that just 11% of the participants agreed to get their salaries in the ruble, while 41% indicated the theme of “categorically opposed” to get payments in CBDC. Russia’s local news channel called Izvestia gave this report on Wednesday, 28th July. This survey came amid the preparations of Russia to proceed with the testing of the digital ruble in the coming January. Around 48% of the respondents of the survey gave undecided responses about receiving the salary in state-controlled digital currency.

Out of the participants, who are prepared to attain their salaries in the digital ruble, only 50% of them affirmed to get 100% of the salaries. The other 50% of respondents agreed to get 50% of salaries in digital ruble currency. This news was shared after the announcement of the Russian apex bank to pursue the establishment of an initial pilot group to proceed with the test of the digital ruble. It has brought 12 prominent Russian banks inclusive of VTB, Sberbank along with some of the private banks like TinkOff Bank. As per the news agency, Izvestia, the concerned banking institutions currently owned salary payments for 87% of Russians.
