The US Post Office has sent a patent to the voting system by mail, which uses the blockchain technology.
The patent, that was issued in February and published on Thursday, followed a statement by President Trump, claiming that voting by mail will turn into a rigging of the elections because votes will be cast by “dogs and dead people”.
“The new system will use blockchain and mail security to provide a reliable voting system. Registered voters will receive a machine-readable code by mail, certify his identity and confirm the correctness of the information in the bulletin for the elections. The system separates the identification of the voter and the voter, in order to secure anonymity, and keeps the votes in the block, “– the announcement of the Postal service reads.
The patent application spreading on 47 pages contains 31 graphs showing the different components of the voting system, including all stages of the electronic process.
Often the voter cannot or does not want to go to the electoral district to vote. An employee of the electoral commission can send the secure bulletins by mail, or the person can choose to use an electronic source for the elections. In such cases, a safe voting mechanism is required.
The system of voting on the blockchain can increase the reliability and safety of the postal service of the USA or other organization, by disabling the falsification or modification of election results.
At the same time, Donald Trump declared the possibility of stopping the financing of the Post Office, if it sends the bulletins by mail for the 2020 election, as he is sure of falsification intent.
