A Bitcoin miner and automobile enthusiast decided to establish a little mining farm in his BMW brand new hybrid car. We are talking about a BMW i8 model with a registration plate HODLER. The name of the miner is Simon Byrne.
According to the Hardware Times publication, Byrne bought a BMW i8 for nearly $150,000 and placed a tiny mining facility with six PNY GeForce RTX З080 graphics cards, an EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 T2 power supply, and an ASUS B250 Mining Expert card in the baggage section.
He explained his decision to choose such an extravagant method for mining Bitcoin with the aim to “annoy gamers”.
The system will also enable him to make money while driving, Byrne said, even though the total computing power of this system is likely too constrained to allow him to produce huge profits.
Miner said the BMW i8 has sufficient power to fuel a small farm, as the car can produce up to З,500 watts while the farm only draws 1,500 watts.
However, the limited trunk space forces him to travel with the rear door open, otherwise the mining devices will overheat.
“I didn’t go into mining to quickly make money. I see this as a manifestation of a utopian world in which services are selected and created by people on a voluntary basis.“
Byrne likes the fact that cryptocurrency is governed by public, open-source, reliable, and decentralized code, and the crypto community is made up of individuals who use their time and energy to help others for free.
