Several proposals have been made to the Brazilian congress in order to promote the idea of exempting tax on Bitcoin miners. Further people intend to transform cryptocurrency into the national currency of the country.

Tax Evasion For Crypto in Brazil

Brazilian Congress has recently come across a proposal concerning the tax exemption on importing crypto mining rigs. Tax exemptions has been requested on mining performed with the use of a renewable source of energy. Other than this, some other proposals have also been made in relation to cryptocurrencies in the country. A report was published on 4th December by a Brazilian local media called “Seudinheiro”.

The report highlighted that several new proposals are shared by the local lawmakers. It will further minimize the backlash on the crypto market from the largest country in South America. A proposal was also presented in front of Congress to change the status of cryptocurrency from a commodity to currency. On clearance of the proposal, the crypto exchanges will get the ability to offer financial services and loan facilities in Brazil.

Senator’s Manifesto to Congress

Three proposals were made by Senator Iraja Silvestre Filho to Congress. Though current conditions are inexplicit concerning the level of support through the legislature, the crypto community in Brazil has a very positive outlook towards the entire situation.

As per Ray Nassar, Arthur Mining’s CEO, passing the tax exemption bill for crypto miners would turn Brazin into the “Mecca of Mining”. In case, cryptocurrency in Brazil attains the position of a legal currency, the apex bank of the country would be able to issue CBDC i.e. Central Bank Digital Currency. With such an effort, Brazil will be counted among those 9 jurisdictions and countries offering CBDC to the residents. At present, Brazil undergoes production with just 50% of the electricity made through renewable sources.
