Ubisoft’s Quartz Project in Menace
France’s leading gaming company, Ubisoft Entertainment has come up with the SA NFT project named “Quartz”. This project has experienced robust reproval from the gaming community.
This criticism was made after the company revealed its Beta launch for Quartz through a short video posted on 8th Dec on Youtube. The video got 214,721 views till morning 10, Dec. Project’s purpose is to integrate blockchain technology and NFTs into already persistent Triple-A game titles. The first game is Ghost Recon Breakpoint by Tom Clancy that will officially uphold NFTs in the gaming world.
The video in subject represents Quartz as a place to allow the gamers to acquire their first-ever playable and sustainable NFTs from Ubisoft. These Ubisoft’s NFTs are known as the “Digits”.
YouTube’s Policy Couldn’t Hide the Hate Received by the Video
A recent change has been observed in YouTube’s policy that highlights that number of dislikes cannot be viewed. Although, the number is shown through the extension on Google Chrome. With the use of the extension, it was found that the video got 1,400 likes along with 37,000 dislikes representing a dislike ratio of 96%.
A leading comment was shared by the user named “OperatorDrewski” which has 2,600 likes and no dislikes. The comment directly backlashes Ubisoft’s NFT venture and calls it a fast cash grab opportunity instead of being a platform aimed to enhance the complete gaming experience.
It says that the project signifies a blatant signal of producers simply trying to use the Ghost Recon Franchise for gaining share in every cent. Besides, they don’t wish to make any efforts in the actual gaming experience. The comment also said that players would not choose to play such a GR game following the level of degeneracy.
Several members of the gaming community had similar opinions. Some other criticism was also found on Twitter including threats to uninstall the game and ban the company completely.
