
The price of meme-based crypto-asset Dogecoin rocketed more than 36% on Sunday after American gangster rapper Snoop Dogg joined DOGE proponents Elon Musk and Kiss rock star Gene Simmons in sharing a related meme of a Shiba Inu, the Japanese dog breed that exemplifies the DOGE token.
The rate of the cryptocurrency opened the day trading around $0.57 and grew as high as $0.074 Sunday evening, up more than 39% in the past 24 hours, as DOGE is inches away from the all-time high of $0.078. On a year-to-date basis, DOGE growth exceeds the staggering mark of 1,100%.
On Saturday night, the rap artist tweeted out a reworked cover of one of his albums with his face replaced by the Dogecoin symbol and an inscription “Snoop Doge”. The rapper also tagged celebrity-status billionaire Elon Musk on his post.
On Sunday morning, Musk acknowledged Snoop Dogg with a meme of his own that gathered more than 500,000 likes.
