Crypto wallet users must urgently update their iPhones and iPads, Pete Kim, head of the development department for cryptocurrency wallet at Coinbase, warned. On his Twitter account, he announced that a liability was uncovered in Apple devices that enables attackers to gain access to their crypto wallets.

“If you are utilizing a mobile crypto wallet using an iOS device, make sure you update iOS as soon as you can! The new optimization includes a fix for a vulnerability in the code,” wrote Kim.

Apple confirmed the vulnerability on its official website and noted that it may have been “actively exploited.” The company has released an update to resolve the issue. It is available for iPhone 6s as well as later versions, iPad Air 2 and later versions, and 7th generation iPod touch.

At the end of August 2020, a user of the Electrum crypto wallet revealed that he had lost $16 million in Bitcoin. The victim had been holding on to the cryptocurrency since 2017, and when he tried to withdraw it, the application required an update to a newer version. After installing it, all coins were gone.
