
The analytical firm Chainalysis unveiled that an unidentified resident of France made a transaction of 28 BTC to radical activists at the beginning of December 2020. About $250 thousand in crypto assets were received by the leader of the Groypers political group, Nick Fuentes.
Various members of organizations storming the US Capitol received BTC for $500 thousand a month before the riots, said service Chainalysis, specializing in developing software for the analysis of blockchain transactions. The researchers found that on December 8, an unknown French resident transferred 28 Bitcoins to 22 different crypto wallets, that are primarily owned by far-right functionaries.
Of the total amount, Nick Fuentes got 13 Bitcoins, or about $250,000 on his address, Chainalysis noted. He is the current leader of the far-right activist group Groypers and attended the rally of supporters of President Trump in Washington on January 6. He was also noticed outside the Capitol building at the start of the riots.
The company further noted that BTC was also received by right-wing streamer Ethan Ralph and the organization VDARE, which stands against illegal immigration to the US. Other particular individuals who received Bitcoins have not been named. Chainalysis highlighted that cryptocurrency is becoming increasingly utilized to fund extremist groups as they grow are ever more disconnected from popular payment methods.
