
Almost 20% of Australians have so far invested in and currently own various digital currencies, as established by a survey published by the Aussie cryptocurrency exchange Independent Reserve.
Meanwhile, more than 90% of respondents stated that they know about the existence of Bitcoin and other digital coins. Currently, almost 91.7% of the country’s population is familiar with the existence of the cryptocurrencies. The most well-known among them remain Bitcoin and Ether.
BTC is much more famous than any other altcoin, among which can be named not only Ether, but also EOS, XRP, and Litecoin that get mentioned.
About 7.8% of those surveyed noted they were aware of the existence of the recently booming DeFi decentralized finance market. When it comes to the younger Australians (aged between 18-24), 14.4% of people admitted that they have already acquired tokens.
A bit more than 18.5% of the country’s residents own various digital assets. About 43.7% of them unveiled that in 2020 they received an income from investments in Bitcoin and other coins. As in the last year, the largest share of Australian cryptocurrency holders is among individuals that are aged between 25 and 34.
