Despite the growth of prices and popularity for the last couple of months, Bitcoin is still far from the attention of the masses. A recent study conducted in the United Kingdom showed that only 10% of the population of the country has ever purchased BTC.
The contest was held after the increase in the price of the leading cryptocurrency by the companies Opinium and AltFi, which tried to find out what people think about digital assets.
Exactly 2,000 adults in Britain were asked how the COVID-19 pandemic affected their financial position. Most of them have declared that they turned to digital investments, staying aside from investment of funds in physical assets.
Of this sample, only 10% (or 200 people) specified that they bought cryptocurrency.
Even though the percentage is still relatively small, the results of 2020 can be considered as a slight improvement. An analogous study carried out at the end of 2019 revealed 5.3% buyers of cryptocurrencies.
AltFi research has also shown that such platforms like Revolut and Freetrade have experienced a significant new investment. Among other preferred sites were Google Pay and Apple Pay – 28% of cryptocurrency buyers used one of them.
The research also confirmed the belief that young generations are more likely to invest funds in BTC. Almost 20% of participants aged 18 to 34 years have already done this, while in the category of people aged 55 years and older, only 1% has made the trade.
